TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

Creating a smart city has been a dream of mine and our Council for many years now. Waitakere has an international reputation for environmental management and sustainability and now we move to a second phase of that giving our citizens a chance to be part of an Eco-tech city. We are very enthusiastic at its possibilities.

Smarter and more extensive use of technology is a critical component in ensuring that Waitakere remains sustainable and exciting into the future. The Eco Tech City campaign is a vital tool in developing the technology base of Waitakere City. But no one can do it all: we have to work together, find new partners, share resources and consult with our community. Waitakere has the youngest city profile in New Zealand and so youth are a primary group for us and this project.

I and my Council wholeheartedly endorse the work of Work Raft Trust and its members as they seek to work with all residents, businesses and organisations throughout the city. They have been vital in getting the campaign to where it is now and are a important catalyst as we seek to move the campaign to its next level. Please give their proposal consideration and I urge you to support this exciting Waitakere initiative. I sincerely believe that together we can make it happen.

Yours sincerely,

ROBERT A. HARVEY QSO, JP
