The Principles behind WETA
Waitakere Eco Tech Action addresses five issues
– Access, Literacy and Skills, useful Content, Creation of information,
and equitable Dissemination of information – at individual, community,
business and government levels. It is also noted that progress depends on
appropriate Policy, Partnerships, and active Practice. (See
Publications for a summary of this
theoretical context, The Five Stages of Community IT projects.)
The WETA vision does not belong to any existing organisation. Many
individuals and organisations are driving specific components. WETA
supports and encourages progress across all components through a
multi-dimension, multi-partner framework.
WETA ensures that synergies between projects are not lost and
that the Vision is advanced no matter who the partner or champion is.
WETA recognises that a holistic approach will attract funding
and support from many different avenues and should generate the
momentum and excitement that attracts additional support into the
future.
Component strategies and projects have their own action plans, budgets,
and funding sources and will move at their own speeds. WETA will work to
ensure that critical projects move as fast as possible.
WETA is a campaign, not a linear or traditional project. It has
no end date but continues to build on its achievements.
